Past Awards

The Annual Ottawa Eco-Stewardship Award recognizes individuals, groups, organizations or businesses that have made a significant contribution to protecting the environment and promoting conservation and sustainability.

The recipients demonstrate vision, initiative, creativity, innovation, sustained effort and commitment, along with leadership and the ability to motivate and build effective partnerships on behalf of the environment.

Past recipients of the Ottawa Eco-Stewardship Award:


2010

James Birtch received the award in recognition of his leadership in promoting sustainable living in both Canada and internationally.  He is the founder of the Ottawa Biosphere Eco-City Pilot Project.

2009

Award Recipient

Mary Vandenhoff, a well-known environmental leader in Lanark county and owner of Nature Lover’s Bookshop, a unique book and gift shop dedicated to promoting greater understanding and appreciation of the natural world.


2008

Award Recipient

Jo and Richard MacArthur, owners of "On Your Marks Print", received the award in recognition of their innovative company that is setting new standards for environmentally friendly printing.


2007

Award Recipient

William Kemp received the award in recognition of his leadership in promoting sustainable living.


2006

Award Recipient

Ann Coffey, a long-standing environmentalist, received the award in recognition of her leadership in promoting activities that make Ottawa a resilient and livable community.


2005

Award Recipient

The TD Friends of the Environment Foundation, in recognition of its 15th Anniversary and the key role it has played in furthering local environmental initiatives.
