Harrowsmith (October 2007): In an article about environmental fairs ‘The Fairest of Them All: The meteoric rise of the Canadian eco-fair’, the author uses one quote as a riposte to her own statement that “cynics might say the phenomenon is just a crass way for entrepreneurs to cash in on a noble goal”:

Ottawa Eco-Stewardship Fair – “Rather than being a typical commercial trade fair, we have made a strategic effort to feature the products, services and information provided by local businesses and environmental organizations”, says Elaine Gibson, Coordinator of Ottawa’s Eco-Fair. “We encourage up-and-coming businesses, such as eco-couriers, organic food, food within 100 kilometres and alternative health-care providers.

Hon. Richard Patten (April, 2006) – former Ottawa-Centre Liberal MPP:

A clear direction from people means we can’t simply increase spending to deal with pressing environmental issues, we have to find smarter ways to use the money we have. Ottawa’s Eco-Stewardship Fair is a small but important example of exactly that. How? Well, all of the partners have invested a little, so that together they can offer a lot. And each year over the past three years, more partners are joining in, more exhibitors are joining in, and more people are coming.”

Bonnie Gray, Executive Director, Ottawa's Countryside, Ottawa Rural Tourism Council:

Ottawa’s Countryside is pleased to participate in the Ottawa Eco-Stewardship Fair. We proudly promote small business tourism of the rural areas of the City of Ottawa and beyond. The EcoFair reaches out to a variety of people searching for the “green”, natural and environmentally savvy experience from young families to the outdoor adventure seeker to the true environmentalists. With such a diverse audience we were pleased to be able to bring Ottawa’s Countryside to the Fair to participate in this very worthwhile effort to improve our surroundings for now and in the future.”
